Brief History of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU)
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) was originally established in 2000 as Anambra State University (ANSU). The university was created to provide high-quality education and foster research in various fields of study to contribute to the socio-economic development of Anambra State and Nigeria at large.
In 2014, the university was renamed to honour the legacy of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, a prominent Nigerian statesman, military leader, and politician who played a significant role in the history of Nigeria. Ojukwu is widely known for his leadership during the Nigerian Civil War and his contributions to the nation’s political landscape.
Today, COOU offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and it is committed to providing world-class education to students while promoting research and innovation in various disciplines.
