The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has commenced the sale of its 2026/2027 Post-Basic Nursing admission form. Qualified registered nurses are invited to apply for admission into the College of Nursing Sciences for specialized Post-Basic Nursing programmes. The programmes run for 12 calendar months and lead to the award of a Post-Basic Diploma upon successful completion.
Available Post-Basic Nursing Programmes
Applicants can apply for either of the following programmes:
- Paediatric Nursing
- Accident and Emergency (A&E) Nursing
Candidates should choose the programme that best matches their professional interests and career goals.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
- Possess SSCE, WAEC, or NECO with five (5) credit passes in not more than two sittings.
- Required subjects include:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Biology must not be substituted with Health Science.
- Combination of WAEC and NECO results is accepted.
- Be a registered Nurse or Midwife.
- Have at least one year of post-qualification working experience.
- Applicants with a Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc) and PGDE have an added advantage.
Application Fee
The application fee is:
₦20,000 (Non-refundable)
Payment should be made through the UPTH College of Nursing Sciences School Remittal Platform.
After payment:
- Present your payment teller to the College Bursar to obtain an official receipt.
- Take the receipt to the Registrar’s Office to collect the application form.
Application Deadline
The completed application form, along with photocopies of all relevant credentials, must be submitted to the Registrar, College of Nursing Sciences on or before:
Friday, 11 September 2026
Applicants are encouraged to submit their forms before the deadline to avoid disqualification due to late submission.
Entrance Examination Details
Qualified applicants will participate in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) as part of the admission process.

Important Notice for Applicants
Candidates travelling from outside Rivers State should make personal arrangements for accommodation and feeding, as the institution will not provide these services during the admission exercise.
