UTME Exams 2025/2026: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the commencement of registration for the 2025/2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Who Can Register for JAMB?
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration is open to students seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, or colleges of education in Nigeria. To be eligible for registration, candidates must meet the following requirements:
1. Age Limit
- Candidates must be at least 16 years old in the year they intend to begin their studies.
2. Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have completed secondary school and obtained their O’Level results.
- The results must include at least five credits in relevant subjects, which must include:
- English Language (compulsory)
- Mathematics (compulsory)
- Three other subjects required for the chosen course of study.
Meeting these requirements ensures that candidates are eligible to register and apply for admission through JAMB.
Eligibility Criteria for 2025/2026 JAMB Registration
JAMB registration is open to candidates who wish to gain admission into universities, polytechnics, or colleges of education in Nigeria. There are two categories of applicants:
1. UTME Candidates
- The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is for students who want to start at 100-level in a university or gain admission into a polytechnic or college of education.
- Candidates can use results from any of the following examination bodies to register:
- WAEC (West African Examinations Council)
- NECO (National Examinations Council)
- NABTEB (National Business and Technical Examinations Board)
2. Direct Entry (DE) Candidates
- Direct Entry is for students who wish to start at 200-level in a university.
- To qualify, candidates must have one of the following qualifications:
- A diploma or NCE (National Certificate in Education) with good grades.
- At least two passes in A-Level subjects that are relevant to the chosen course.
- An IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board) result with the required points for admission.
Important Information for Candidates
O’Level Results:
If candidates do not have their O’Level results yet, they can still register for JAMB by selecting the “awaiting results” option. However, they must upload their results to the JAMB portal before the admission process is completed.
National Identification Number (NIN):
All candidates must have a National Identification Number (NIN). Without it, they cannot register for JAMB. If candidates do not have an NIN, they can register for one at a NIMC enrollment center near them.
